School is out for summer! And if you forgot to sign your kids up for camp there is good news: let Dancing Meatballs guide you to a fun-filled adventurous summer, and save the calamine lotion for later. Dancing Meatballs highlights one activity, for each day of the month, that you and your family are sure to love. Besides the website, Dancing Meatballs also offers a free newsletter which lists upcoming events each week.
Founders Cheryl Provomy and Janelle Tsai were tired of working 100+ hours a week and wanted a job where they could spend time with their family and even bring their little ‘meatball’ along. “There are resources available that will let you know what goes on in the area, but you never know if it will to be a hit with your kids. We have done the research and our readers are generally very pleased with Dancing Meatball’s daily picks.
Both women came to Philadelphia to get their MBA’s and were very active with a Wharton Mothers Group. “The majority of these women are new to Philadelphia and only live here for two to three years while their husbands are in school,” said Janelle. This was a perfect focus group as they Provomy and Tsai soon learned that many parents in Philadelphia believe having children limits their social life. Dancing Meatballs not only highlights kid-friendly events, but outings parents will like as well, such as shopping previews, concerts, and in-store beauty events.
Their original idea was to create a perfect baby bag for parents who are on the move. Tsai’s mother lives in China and owns a luggage company so all they needed to do is come up with a prototype. However, that idea was soon scrapped as they found out that there is no such thing as a perfect travel baby bag.
“Our kids are going to be so tired of going to these events” said Provomy, who is expecting her first child late this summer. “We’re not a non-profit, we are a no-profit.” She and Tsai are relying on advertising to create revenue for Dancing Meatballs. So this summer, take advantage of some of the amazing activities going on in the area. Check out Dancing Meatballs at:
